Governor Walker Joins in Jobs Announcement, Groundbreaking Ceremony for MillerCoors Expansion

Friday, May 19, 2017 - Press Release

Milwaukee – Governor Scott Walker joined MillerCoors leaders today in celebrating the expansion of the 10th Street Brewery in Milwaukee. The expansion project is expected to create 65 new jobs.

“We’re proud to be joining MillerCoors in this exciting announcement today,” Governor Walker said. “Their expansion and investment in the Milwaukee community prove our economy is back on track and our pro-business policies are working. They recognize that now is the perfect time for expansion – our unemployment rate dipped to 3.2 percent in April, the lowest it’s been since February 2000 and the number of people in our workforce is at an all-time high. Looking forward, we’re going to continue working and winning for Wisconsin by investing in top priorities so our state continues to thrive for decades to come.”

The expansion adds an 119,328 square-foot packaging and warehouse building as well as a more than 11,000 square-foot expansion to the existing brewhouse. This gives the facility flexibility to serve as an incubator, brew small-batch beers, and run variety packs. The more than $50 million expansion furthers MillerCoors commitment to investing in the communities it operates in through economic investment, job creation, and sustainable practices. The 10th Street Brewery currently employs 15 people, but the expansion is expected to bring an additional 65 new jobs to the Milwaukee community.

MillerCoors has been operating in Milwaukee since 1855 and employs around 1,600 people in Wisconsin. This expansion of the 10th Street Brewery ensures Wisconsin beer is made locally, provides jobs, and spurs economic growth in Milwaukee.
