La Crosse – Governor Scott Walker announced today the State of Wisconsin Building Commission approved a renovation project for the Recreational Eagle Center addition on the University of Wisconsin (UW) – La Crosse campus.

“We are pleased the State Building Commission voted to move forward on this addition to the Recreational Eagle Center on UW-La Crosse campus,” said Governor Scott Walker.  “This facility saw a 35 percent increase in student entries from 2011 to 2013, and the addition approved today will allow more UW – La Crosse students enjoy the center.

This project includes the construction of a two-story addition to the Recreational Eagle Center.  The addition will include a strength training space, a large multipurpose recreation room, storage, and will allow for mechanical access from the existing building to the addition.  Facility additions will address long wait times for equipment, overcrowding, and safety concerns due to space restrictions.

  • State Senator Terry Moulton;
  • State Senator Jerry Petrowski;
  • State Senator Janis Ringhand;
  • State Representative Rob Swearingen;
