MADISON – The State of Wisconsin Building Commission, chaired by Governor Scott Walker, met yesterday to approve several key projects across the state including:

  • Authority to construct the John R. Moses Skilled Nursing Facility at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King;
  • Continued support for the state’s agricultural industry through the Babcock Hall Dairy Plant and Center for Dairy Research Addition project;
  • Remodel Lorenz Hall at Mendota Mental Health Institute to accommodate additional patients;
  • University of Wisconsin System infrastructure maintenance, repair, renovation, and upgrade for heating plant fuel reliability at UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout, and UW-Superior; and
  • Other various maintenance and repair projects around the state.

“The projects approved make important improvements for the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King and University of Wisconsin System facilities,” Governor Walker said. “I thank the commission members for joining me in approving these projects.”

The Building Commission is chaired by Governor Walker and made up of the following members:

  • State Senator Terry Moulton (R—Chippewa Falls)
  • State Senator Jerry Petrowski (R—Marathon)
  • State Senator Janis Ringhand (D—Evansville)
  • State Representative Rob Swearingen (R—Rhinelander)
  • State Representative Terry Katsma (R—Oostberg)
  • State Representative Jill Billings (D—La Crosse)
