MadisonGovernor-elect Scott Walker had an early morning telephone conversation with Caterpillar Chairman and CEO Doug Oberhelman Monday to discuss the $7.6 billion purchase of South Milwaukee-based Bucyrus International, Inc. and the relocation of CAT's worldwide mining headquarters to the Milwaukee area.

Governor-elect Walker said:

"I welcome Caterpillar's worldwide mining headquarters to Milwaukee.  I had a great conversation with Mr. Oberhelman early today, and I look forward to working with CAT as they establish their worldwide mining headquarters in Milwaukee.

"I also want to commend Tim Sullivan of Bucyrus for his leadership of the company.  Tim's been a great leader for the company, the Milwaukee area and the entire State of Wisconsin.

"I will be working to improve Wisconsin's business climate so other companies want to expand or relocate to our state.  The relocation of the CAT worldwide mining headquarters is a down payment on the 250,000 new jobs we expect to create in the next four years."
