The company’s creation of 13,000 family-supporting careers showcases how Wisconsin is working and winning in its year-over-year jobs gains and gives us another reason to be thankful as the holiday season approaches.


1. Wisconsin is Ready for Wisconn Valley!

On November 10, Governor Walker & Foxconn Chairman Terry Gou signed a historic contract to support the development of a world-class advanced display manufacturing campus in Racine County. Only a few days later, the company began hiring!


2. Wisconsin's Year-over-Year Job Gains in Manufacturing Rank 2nd Nationally, 1st in Midwest in October

We are working and winning for Wisconsin!

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released data late last week showing that Wisconsin ranked 2nd nationally in 12-month manufacturing job gains in October and first in the Midwest, and ranked in the top 10 nationally in several measurements among states:

  • Wisconsin's month-over-month percent increase in total non-farm jobs ranked 7th nationally, 1st in the Midwest
  • Wisconsin's month-over-month percent increase in private sector jobs ranked 7th nationally, 1st in Midwest
  • Wisconsin's 12-month increase in manufacturing jobs ranked 2nd nationally, 1st in the Midwest
  • Wisconsin's month-over-month increase in manufacturing jobs ranked 3rd nationally, 2nd in the Midwest
  • Wisconsin's month-over-month percent increase in manufacturing jobs ranked 7th nationally, 2nd in the Midwest
  • Wisconsin's 12-month percent increase in private sector jobs ranked 2nd in the Midwest

3. The #WICapitolTree Has Arrived!

The Capitol’s 100th Anniversary Christmas tree has arrived! The 40-foot balsam fir tree is from the Town of Emery and was donated by Jim Ryf. It will be decorated with ornaments handmade by students across the state following the Thanksgiving holiday.

The White House's Christmas Tree this year also comes from Wisconsin! First Lady Melania Trump received the 19.5 foot tree this afternoon.


4. Tourism’s “Big Bundle Up” Campaign

Governor Walker and Wisconsin’s tourism industry are teaming up to help thousands of Wisconsin residents stay warm this winter with The Big Bundle Up campaign. Now in its seventh year, the statewide charity initiative encourages people to donate new or gently used gloves, hats, scarves, coats, and other warm winter gear for those in need. Since 2011, Wisconsin residents, travelers, and businesses contributed more than 103,400 winter items, which have been donated to charities across the state.
