Milwaukee – Governor Scott Walker presented awards at the 26th Annual Manufacturer of the Year Awards in Milwaukee tonight.
“Manufacturing is leading our state back to economic recovery,” Governor Walker said. “These are highly-skilled, family-supporting jobs, and it is important to support and encourage growth in this sector as we establish Wisconsin as the leading manufacturing state. Congratulations to all those receiving awards tonight, and thank you for your commitment to growing manufacturing in Wisconsin.”

Manufacturing is an important part of Wisconsin’s growing economy and will continue to grow throughout years to come. In 2013, manufacturing jobs created an estimated 13,100 jobs year over year.
Wisconsin is home to approximately 9,400 manufacturers. In 2012, the industry contributed nearly $50 billion to the state’s gross state product, and workers earn on average of 20 percent more than private-sector workers. The manufacturing industry is leading the way for economic recovery, and our state continues to encourage talent to flow into this prosperous industry.
