Madison – Today Governor Walker and First Lady Tonette Walker shared their official State of Wisconsin Holiday Frosted Pecan Recipe.
State of Wisconsin Frosted Pecans
1 egg white
1 Tablespoon of water
1 pound of pecans
½ cup of brown sugar
½ cup of sugar
½ teaspoon of cinnamon
¼ teaspoon of nutmeg
¼ teaspoon of salt
In a bowl, mix together, brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Pour pecans in another large bowl.
In a separate small dish, mix the egg white and water.
Pour egg and water mixture over pecans and mix well. Pour dry ingredient mixture over pecans and mix until all pecans are well coated.
Spread pecans on a cookie sheet and bake 1 hour at 250 degrees, stirring every 15 minutes.
After they are done, let them cool on wax paper for 1 hour before putting in containers.
