Wisconsin Jumps to 17th in CNBC’s “Top States For Business” Ranking
2012 ranking is Wisconsin’s highest ranking ever, up from 25th in 2011
Madison–Today, CNBC released its rankings of the “Top States For Business”. Wisconsin climbed eight spots to come in at #17. This is the highest Wisconsin has ranked since CNBC began conducting the study in 2007.
“This improvement in our ranking shows we are on the right track,” Governor Walker said. “We’ve made great strides in improving the business climate in the state over the past year and a half, but there is more work to be done.”
CNBC scored all 50 states on 43 measures of competitiveness in ten categories including; cost of doing business, workforce, quality of life, economy, infrastructure and transportation, technology and innovation, education, business friendly, access to capital, and cost of living.
In 2012, Wisconsin improved or scored the same as it did in 2011 in eight of the ten categories. The CNBC ranking shows Wisconsin’s greatest improvement in the category of infrastructure and transportation, where the state jumped from 22nd to 6th in the country. Wisconsin also ranked high in education (10th), quality of life (14th), and cost of doing business (15th).
Previously, Wisconsin’s highest overall ranking in the study was 25th (2011). The lowest ranking was 37th (2008).
