Bureau of Labor Statistics Verifies Jobs Growth

Madison—The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently signed-off on the jobs data from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) for the second quarter of 2012.  QCEW is based on an actual job count of more than 96 percent of employers in Wisconsin.

Governor Walker released the following statement regarding the published QCEW data:

Wisconsin’s continued job growth is good news.  I am encouraged that Wisconsin is continuing to grow jobs and that Wisconsin’s jobs climate is improving.  We are pleased to see the increase in manufacturing jobs, which are an integral part of Wisconsin’s economy.

The federal government’s verification of the actual job count again shows the QCEW numbers are the most accurate measurement of job growth in Wisconsin.  We are hopeful DWD will be able to work with BLS to ensure the monthly jobs estimates reflect the actual jobs numbers.   Our goal moving forward is to continue to help Wisconsin job creators continue to put Wisconsinites back to work.
